Modular Visions & Installations > Modular Visions

Recently I’ve been working on a series of interchangeable outdoor screen installations that draw from geometric patterns found in architecture and design in combination with colors that I associate with the natural landscape of my current high-desert surroundings. Part flag, part fence, part portal, the varying forms of the suspended screens filter light and reflect color, changing depending on the time of day and the angle of the sun. By veiling what is behind it, the work enables the viewer to experience the environment through the filter of the semitransparent material itself. This effect draws attention to the partial and contingent nature of perception, and foregrounds the dynamic capacity of art to mediate our environments.
